Quechua Christians

(Click on the small photos to see larger versions)

What are they wrestling with there in that mucky water?

Oh, yeah.  They were just baptizing someone.

Four happy Christian Quechua women attending the above baptism.

At large Quechua church in the town of Yawisla (about 5 hours from Sucre) where Steve and Mary Hawthorne (SIM) live and work.  That's Steve at the front teaching on the Holy Spirit in Quechua.

A small but growing Quechua church in the town of Yuroca.  Over 80% of the community have become Christians!  Our Landcruiser is off to the right, loaded with pumps and cookers to demonstrate.

Inside the small UCE (Unión Cristiana Evangelica) church in the town of Khara Khara.  Tim Hatt (Pioneers) is just finishing his talk (in Quechua) and Simón Chavez is stepping up to the front for his.  This room was so dark that without the flash the photo would have been blank.

Our good friends, the Mendietas - Eddy, Nancy, Daniel, Nathan, and Luke.  Eddy and Nancy are Quechua speakers and Eddy has a great ministry among farmers in the rural areas.

Nineth Montero, who became a Christian while working as our house helper.  Nineth has her degree in languages, both Quechua and English, and teaches English in Sucre.  She's been a great help to us and is a good friend.
